Looking Forward – A Letter from CPO Travis Crowder

Saturday night, we took the time to honor our youth, volunteers, staff, board of directors, and members of our community who go above and beyond for our organization. The Youth of the Year Banquet is our annual chance to say thank you. It’s also a great time to see where our Club has been and where we are headed. Let me tell you, our future is bright. We heard from seven teen Youth of the Year Candidates and five Members of the Year, all shining examples of the best we have at Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley.

This year, we’re celebrating 15 years of serving youth just like these. For many of our 1,400 members, the Club is an absolutely vital and enriching part of their lives. Our members learn the necessary skills to develop their academic success, improve their good character and citizenship, and enhance their healthy lifestyles as they grow up within our Club. Further, we add the stability in our members’ lives they may be lacking through enriching programs and nutritious meals. It costs $1,052 a year, per child, for us to provide the programs and services we do. In order to keep our Club open to as many youth as possible, we continue to charge just $10 a year for an annual membership. We can’t do it alone. Proceeds from special events, such as Night in the Country, cover just 33% of our annual operating budget.

It just takes one caring adult, one volunteer, one donation to make a difference in the life of a child. You can help make a lasting impact on the youth of Yerington, Dayton and Silver Springs today. Your donation is 100% tax deductible, and will go to the area, program or event of your choice. I hope you will join our efforts in making Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley a place where kids and teens become caring and productive members of society.
