The 2022-23 school year: your need-to-know

Yup, you read that right. The 2022-23 school year is just weeks away for Lyon and Mineral County! As we approach a new year of learning together, we wanted to put together everything you need to know with Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley and your family for this school year.

Our Club membership runs from June 1-May 31. If you’ve renewed already for our 2022 summer program, you’re set! If you haven’t, visit our Membership Central page and watch our orientation video before filling out the membership form. Your family should be set to go in a day or two, but please fill out the membership form if you plan on attending this school year as soon as you can. The $10 membership fee will apply to new members for the school year.

Speaking of membership fees, we are very happy to be able to offer the entire 2022-23 school year with no weekly fees. There will be a small $15/child fee for our Yerington and Dayton morning programs in order to help cover transportation costs to and from school, additional staffing, etc. As always, Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley will never turn away a family due to an inability to pay. As part of your application process, you’ll be asked to fill out a Children’s Cabinet form, also available on our Membership Central page. We will follow up if you qualify as soon as we hear back from our partners.

With the new school year comes new hours for our clubhouses. Our clubhouses will be open to kids and teens at the following times. Please note that early outs are not reflected here, but our clubhouses will always be open at the end of the school day.

weekly session forms

Like this summer and last school year, all parents and guardians must fill out weekly session forms to attend. This helps us keep track of how many members we can expect and is a must for coordinating with the schools and getting your member to and from the Club. Weekly session forms will always be available the Monday morning the week prior, typically around 8 a.m. Weekly session forms for each clubhouse can be found on our Membership Central page. Keep in mind that space, transportation, etc. may be limited and weekly spaces are always first-come, first-served.

You don’t have to get your family through school alone, we’re here to help! At each of our sites, usually right when school gets out, members can get their homework out and done with the help of our trained and professional staff in Power Hour. Not only is their homework done before they even get home, but they can also earn Be Bucks toward amazing prizes. Project Learn will keep the learning going past homework, while Triple Play will get members the exercise and active time they need every day. These are just a few examples of the nearly 15 programs we offer yearly. Visit our programming page to learn more about the five key areas we tackle and the formula for impact we use to ensure every kid and teen gets the best Club experience.
