When Nhylah was chosen as Yerington’s Member of the Year she felt special and that the staff really valued her. Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley gives Nhylah a place to truly be herself, hang out with her friends, get to know and spend time with the staff, and participate in fun programs.
Nhylah has been a member here for two years now and has really shown how hardworking, creative, silly, and kind she is to her peers and the staff. She is a valuable member of the Torch Club and loves to help staff wherever there is a need. During our Youth of the Year Banquet where she was being honored for this award, she chose to work alongside the Torch Club and Keystone Club, bussing and waiting tables during the entire event. She enjoys meeting and making new friends here and having the opportunity to learn how to be more of a leader. Nhylah is also a member of our youth basketball league and plays softball in the local Walker River Little League.
When asked what the Club has taught her, she said, “I’ve learned how to properly communicate with other people and how to express my feelings.”
Her favorite things to do at the Club are to annoy her favorite staff Nick and Crystal and hang out with all her close friends in the Learning Loft. She enjoys proudly representing her strong Native American culture and teaching others about it. She dreams of being a doctor one day, wanting to be someone that cares for people on a bigger level.
The staff appreciates Nhylah so much and all she brings to Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley. Her humor and kindness light up any room and her willingness to get a job well done helps everyone out every day.
