When you think of Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley you might think it is just a before and after school program but to kids like Sedona, our Dayton Member of the Year, it is a second home.

“When I think of the Club, I think of the kindness all around,” Sedona stated.  “The staff are so amazing, and they work so hard. It just feels like home to me.”

Sedona was chosen by staff to be their Member of the Year because in the seven years of her being a member, she has always been insightful and understanding even at her young age. Every time she enters a room, she looks for what needs to be done, where she can be most helpful, and who she can make smile today. With dreams of being an animal caretaker when she is older, she has such a kind and caring outlook on life that we know will help her become the best version of herself and make her future bright.

Her favorite memory at Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley so far is when the Club used to be in the school, they had a huge glow-in-the-dark dance party. Her and her friends had so much fun, and the staff made it a night to remember forever.

Sedona does a lot for her clubhouse. She sang the National Anthem at our first-ever Take a Kid to a Car Show, performed a song at the 2023 Youth of the Year banquet, and was also a judge for the 2024 Take a Kid to a Car Show. She is currently a volunteer at the Dayton clubhouse and is looking forward to becoming a staff one day.

When asked how being chosen as Dayton’s 2023 Member of the Year made her feel, Sedona shared, “I honestly felt speechless. I couldn’t contain my excitement; I almost didn’t believe it!”
