YERINGTON, Nev. – Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley, in accordance with local guidelines and in an effort to stem community spread of COVID-19, will be closing its Yerington clubhouse until at least Oct. 19.
A total of two Club members and one relative have tested positive since Wednesday. Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley has adhered to strict safety measures, including mask wearing for all youth and staff, social distancing in each area, regular hand washing and sanitization and increased airflow in the building itself. In light of the recent positives, and while additional staff members and youth begin to isolate and get tested, the Club will take the further step of closing its doors until Monday, Oct. 19. Youth who are identified by Carson City Health and Human Services as direct contacts will not be allowed back in the Yerington clubhouse until their self-isolation period has concluded.
“Taking care of children and teens is at the heart of what we do, and ever since we opened our doors to children back in May safety has been our very top priority,” said Travis Crowder, the Club’s chief professional officer. “We’ve done everything possible to keep our Club members, staff and volunteers safe and we want to make sure we get on top of any potential outbreak as quickly as possible. This is a reminder that as we try to get back to normal, we all need to stay aware and vigilant of this virus.”
Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley administrative staff will work closely with Carson City Health and Human Services to aid contact tracing efforts and will keep its families informed as things develop.

Lyon County, City of Yerington, Carson City Health and Human Services and the Quad County Health Care Coalition are offering COVID testing on Oct. 13 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m at the new City Hall located on the corner of Main Street and East Goldfield Avenue.
