Dear Parents,

In accordance with state directives, Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley has adjusted all its sites to keep your children and our staff safe. We are currently open, with strict social distancing and safety procedures in place, in Yerington and Hawthorne to all families. Sutro Elementary in Dayton is currently open to children of healthcare professionals only, and we are working with Lyon County School District and their timeline to open fully in both Dayton and Silver Springs. For more information, click here. The Attic Thrift Store is currently open for business but per state guidelines the Yerington Movie House remains closed.

We understand the impact this has on our families, and we truly appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to reopen for all our families in all our communities.

If any families are in need of food or basic necessity throughout the closure please contact Christina Hurt, Director of Operations at Christina@bgcmasonvalley.org.

Family Nights and Family PLUS
Family Nights

Family Nights are an awesome way to spend time together! Held once a month, these nights are great opportunities for parents to participate with their children in enriching activities at the Boys & Girls Club and see how we work every day to impact our youth. Evenings include fun activities, free dinners and door prizes. Members must have an adult present to participate in. Grab the whole family and come check out the monthly events! Past Family Nights have included a Take N Bake Pizza Night, Bingo Night, and Family Photo Night.

For upcoming family night events, call your Site Director!

“Coming from a whole family to a single dad raising kids, the Club was there for my boys during that instrumental period in their lives.”--Jeff Page, Advisory Board Member
Family PLUS

Family PLUS stands for Parents Leading, Uniting, and Serving. The goal of the Family PLUS program is to reach, support, and empower families to participate fully in their child’s life. The Club’s mission is to create family support activities into the Club for engagement and to collaborate with organization to provide resources to caregivers.

There are five components of Family PLUS:

Kinship Care – Kinship care includes providing knowledge and resources to extended family members (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, foster parents, etc.) who have assumed the role of primary caregiver.

Father Involvement – Clubs provide support and promotion through programs, activities, training and services to help increase the positive involvement of fathers in the lives of their children.

Economic Opportunity – Clubs empower families by helping parents and caregivers increase their level of education, find and keep jobs, improve their earnings, build savings and establish credit.

Outreach Strategies – Clubs build their capacity to effectively recruit and retain the involvement of new populations of diverse parents and caregivers who are often underserved in Clubs.

Family Advocacy Network (FAN) Club – This scientifically proven program supports parents and caregivers of Boys & Girls Club members who are participating in SMART Moves.
