The Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley returned from the national conference last week with a big honor. The National Marketing and Communication Award is given every year to the Boys & Girls Club that excels in marketing a club initiative or special event. Past winners have included the Boys & Girls Clubs of Truckee Meadows for their marketing of the Annual Cioppino Feed. This year, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley took home the Silver MAC Award for their marketing of Night in the Country. Festival Director Tiffani Creedon and Garrett Braun with Furious Creative worked for months putting together the submission packet for the award.
“Winning the MAC award for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley has been something I wanted to do since I attended my first National conference three years ago in San Diego,” Creedon said. “I told Travis (Chief Professional Officer for the Club) that there is no reason why we can’t take one of those home.”
Creedon also said that winning the award attests to the hard work and dedication put in by the committee, staff, and volunteers and shows how much the event had grown to really benefit the Boys & Girls Club.
“I wanted our club recognized at a National level for its hard efforts,” Creedon said. “It’s a lot of work to have a Club in a rural area.”
Creedon cited that the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley doesn’t have the big foundations or large amount of donors that clubs in bigger cities do.
The Club sent a mix of staff and board members to this year’s National Conference in San Francisco, Calif. They were able to network with other clubs, attend workshops and even attended a keynote speech from former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
