Day for Kids is a great time to spend with the family, and an opportunity for Club members to break out of their normal routine. Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley: Silver Springs Site held their DFK event last Friday night, where members and their families could have their face painted, jump in the bounce house, win some sweets in the cake walk and earn raffle tickets for some awesome prizes along the way.

“It (Day for Kids) lets everyone know we appreciate the kids and our families,” said Chastity Ferrie, site director for Silver Springs. “I’m very happy with the turnout this year.”

Day for Kids Silver Springs saw more than 100 families and Club members, a number higher than recent years.

Aiden Higgins, a 10-year-old Club member who has been coming since Kindergarten, says he looks forward to each year’s Day for Kids.

“I like the bounce house,” Aiden said. “It gives us the chance to bounce around and have a good time.”

Organizers say the increase in attendance this year was due largely to an increase in enrollment numbers. BGCMV’s Silver Springs Site has been seeing a daily attendance of nearly 80 Club members, including upwards of 30 teens.
