2014 was an exciting and busy year for Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley. From renovated movie theaters and Clubs to donations and a record-breaking summer, 2014 definitely deserves another look.

Youth in Dayton and Silver Springs receive first club cards: At the beginning of the year, our Dayton and Silver Springs sites received computers and scanners with a new member software for the first time. Instead of signing in on piece of paper, members were able to scan in with their very own club cards for the first time.

Newly renovated Movie House opens: What was once the Take One Movie Theater is now The Yerington Movie House. Thanks to the generosity and support of Pioneer Crossing and several foundations, Yerington’s only theater received state of the art equipment, new chairs and curtains as well as a new screen. BGCMV wins National MAC Award: Each year, Boys & Girls Clubs from all across the country compete for the National Marketing and Communication Award. This year, the Club took home silver for the Night in the Country Music Festival. STORY: http://wp.me/p4EaiN-a

Yerington Clubhouse receives solar panels: Thanks to some grant money and Black Rock Solar, the Club’s Yerington Clubhouse is now equipped with solar panels, providing $1,000s in energy savings each year. STORY: http://wp.me/p4EaiN-15

Americorps team serves at Club: We were incredibly fortunate to spend our summer with a team from the Americorps. These awesome volunteers helped us tremendously, and really made an awesome connection with all our kids. STORY AND PHOTO GALLERY: http://wp.me/p4EaiN-1n

BGCMV receives donation for food program: The William N. Pennington Foundation, located in Reno, donated $35,000 to our food program this year. The Club served upwards of 500 meals a day this summer, and is expected to surpass last year’s meal count easily. Silver Springs Clubhouse gets makeover: Thanks to the Silver Springs Youth Organization, Lyon County School District and HUD, the Silver Springs Clubhouse received a renovation late this year.
